A few years ago a friend who is an aspiring author told me about all the things an author needs to do to be successful. I was simply amazed at the challenges involved. Beyond the challenge of the writing itself, the seeming endless choices of publishers, agents, editors, query letters, rights, publicity, promotion, and more were boggling.
In her list of things you need to do was “get a web site.” Having led many web site projects, I know the challenges of creating a great site. So I asked, how was an author supposed to “get a web site?” Expecting that the guru from whom she had taken a class had an answer, I was surprised when the response was simply “just go get one!”
There should to be a better and easier way! Especially for those who have limited budgets or want to do it themselves. Knowing that there are numerous ways to do it yourself, I wondered out loud if there was a need for a system focused on authors – one that eliminated trial and error and made it fast and easy to create and update sites designed specifically for authors. And because of my experience building solutions for business, I immediately thought what other tools could we provide to meet an author’s need to promote and sell their work?
I personally find it exciting and fulfilling to work with authors, writers, speakers and others in the publishing business. Because each work is a creative and unique product, everyone is open and willing to help each other. This camaraderie and spirit helps to inspire and propel each of us toward achieving our goals.
Unlike some web-based companies, we do not hide behind a web site or technical language. We are available by email or phone to assist and support you in using our system or in any other way we can help.
